BB ~ 5 year old Border Collie x ~ Adopted 7/12/19

BB is a pretty 5 year old Border Collie x whose eager and enthusiastic nature belies her age. BB is a friendly girl who acts more like a pup rather than a 5 year old. She is a people dog who loves her humans - she has sweet amber eyes that will melt your heart.

BB has had a tough time of late after her beloved owner passed away - she has been understandably stressed since losing her dad so we are looking for a loving and experienced foster home or forever home for her - if you know and love the Border Collie breed she may be a great match for you.

BB is an active and well mannered girl who loves being the centre of attention, so a home with an attentive single or couple or a family experienced with dogs would be perfect for her. Her old owner was retired so she is used to a lot of one-on-one attention. She requires 6 foot colourbond fencing to keep her safely contained until she settles into her new families routine - she can climb lower fencing or gates in an attempt to find her old owner if left alone whilst settling in. Once settled she doesn't attempt to escape.

BB is a smart girl who is eager to please - she sits for treats and comes when called (although she does have selective hearing when there are exciting things to sniff!) She is well mannered inside the house once she’s worn off a little energy - she definitely needs to be allowed inside the house and to sleep inside close to her family. BB loves treats so training is rewarding for both you and her - she is particularly fond of cheese - yum!

BB is fine with some other dogs - however her energy can be a tad annoying for many dogs and she will round-up other dogs at times. She was an only furchild in her old home and that suited her well as she’s definitely more of a person-dog - preferring to spend her time being a human with you rather than playing with other dogs. She is affectionate once she knows you and adores her pats but as with most dogs she doesn’t like strangers hugging her.

BB would be a great fit for active semi-retirees or empty-nesters whose kids have flown the coop - a single person or couple who are keen to direct their attention and affection onto their newly adopted fur-child. She would love to be walked every day to wear off some of her typical border collie energy. She may be a good match for a family with older teenagers who are experienced with active, medium sized dogs. We are after a home with no young kids as she finds their attention too overwhelming and can nip when stressed.
