About Dobby ~ 2yo Chinese Crested (adopted)
Meet Dobby, a loving and sensitive Chinese Crested 2 year old pup. Dobby is a hairless dog with heart of gold, stealing snuggles and kisses whenever he can! Dobby is quite a timid boy but has a real personality once he is comfortable. Dobby will be most happy in a calm home that is not too loud and boisterous.
Dobby is an inside dog. He currently enjoys free access to a garden to sun himself and explore, and having access to such enrichment would be best for him in the future. Dobby has already learnt to use a doggy door and currently comes and goes from a secure laundry at his foster home whilst his foster parents are not home. Dobby is not a nuisance barker but he can get vocal towards neighbourhood dogs on occasion.
Dobby will be most happy in a home where he has company during the day hours for large portions of the week from a human or doggy friend. Dobby must go to a home with a very secure yard. He is only a little boy and has a tendency to find the smallest of gaps in fences and will attempt to explore the other side.
He is a low activity dog, happy to curl up in his little bed and blanket, though he can be alert and active with his current foster sisters (Kelpie cross and dachshund cross) when they want to play. He has learnt to play zoomies and chasing games with his new friends. Dobby has started to play with soft toys too, finding comfort in the soft squeaky variety.
Dobby walks well on a lead and will benefit from daily walks and obedience training. Dobby is currently learning to sit and wait for his food and would benefit from further training. Dobby is not yet fully housetrained. He has done the occasional wee inside his foster home but knows to do all his number 2’s on the lawn. His new owners will need to remind him to use the lawn at regular intervals once he is adopted and reward him for doing so. Dobby responds well to food rewards, praise and cuddles. He should be easy to train for a committed owner.
Dobby will be suitable for a variety of home settings. It will be best if he goes to a family home with adults who work from home and children who are gentle (he has been fine with children as young 15 months), or to an older person/couple who is retired and looking for a lot of on-lap company. We have been told that he doesn’t get along well with other male dogs (this however was before he was desexed) and Dobby hasn’t been socialised with cats or other pocket pets.
The Chinese Crested is a breed of dog with specific care needs such as skin care, sun protection and body temperature control. All applications that fail to address these care needs will not be considered for Dobby’s forever home.
Please email your completed application to katiehartdrn@gmail.com . You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt . Dobby is currently in care at Cameron Park.
Dobby’s adoption fee is $550 and covers his desexing, vaccinations, treatment for fleas and worms, microchipping, and lifetime registration.

(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:

If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
