About Dexter
❤️ Dexter's Story ❤️
How Dexter ended up dumped in a pound at just a year old is unknown.
But there are some dogs who tell you so much in their own way … Dexter is one of those dogs.
His crippling fear of men. children, noise, silence, touch. of life as a whole told us more that we wished we knew.
Imagine living all your days afraid of living. 💔
Dexter’s journey has been heartbreaking and has taken longer than many others, but he has had 2 amazing foster families who have brought him so far.
Gone is the little boy who would run terrified from a touch, who was so stressed he would turn in circles if you spoke to him.
Todays Dexter has found his “Brave”.
It will never be a great big strong Brave, but it is a good Brave, a beautiful Brave ... and it is “Dexter’s Brave”.
It’s a Brave that lets him run and play with other dogs, to sleep peacefully at night, to show his smart side, to relish his training and to be the joyful and loving pup he should always have been.
But Dexter’s Brave is a nervous somewhat shy Brave, a Brave that is still wary of strangers and one that needs a little time and effort to shine.
But when it does it will warm your heart.
If you have it in your heart to spend some time with Dexter and his Brave you will be rewarded with the most amazing, loyal, honest, loving and special boy.
Dexter and his Brave will need a calm and laid back home .. Busy and Noisy will not work for them.
Adoptive Dads may need a tough skin and some patience ... it may take a little time … foster dads have proven this .. mutual admiration in bucket loads will happen.
Children would really need to be of the grown up variety and understand that Dexter and his Brave can be a little scared sometimes.
Exercise and play is something Dexter needs a lot of and he will happily leave his Brave at home snoozing whilst he goes running with you.
He would love another dog for company … his brave would too as Dexter lets his brave snooze when he has a friendly dog to hang out with.
Dexter does get a little worried if left alone all day and his Brave isn’t much help there so if his family were around more often than not that would be awesome. Failing that a doggy friend would do the job pretty well.
Dexter and his Brave would love to find their forever after together and we are certain that special family is out there.
We know it may take a meet or two for Dexter’s Brave to show up as his Brave can be a little elusive at times, but we know the special ones will understand and prepare for that.
If you think that could be you please send us a message with some information about yourself.
Dexter is about 18 months old and we think he is a Kelpie x Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog.
He has had all his vet work completed including desexing.
Currently in foster care in Burleigh Waters, Dexters adoption fee is $395 and includes a complimentary “Brave” .
As always taking a second to hot
