About Marmalade
Marmalade is the most beautiful little boy you will ever meet. He is such a lover- he adores people, other cats, and he absolutely loves dogs.
He came into care when a vet nurse friend of mine contacted me with a very special case. Marmalade had been hit by a car at just 4 months old, his left front leg left very badly broken from the accident. His owners took him to the vet but did not want to pay for his surgery, and "didn't want a three legged cat anyway", instead asking for him to be put to sleep. The vets and nurses at the clinic immediately saw what a beautiful boy he was, and instead asked the owners to surrender him to them to treat and find a new home for- there was no way they were putting him to sleep for a treatable injury that wouldn't affect his quality of life adversely.
They performed the surgery to remove his front leg, desexed, vaccinated and microchipped him. This clinic gets inundated with cases like this, so I offered to help find this lovely boy a home. When I collected him, I was just blown away by his beauty and his personality. His foster carer Caitlin feels the same; he has become the best of friends with her two cats Winnie and Tigger.
Because of his surgery, he will need to remain an indoor cat for the rest of his life- it is not safe for him to be outside unless he has access to a beautiful enclosed mesh garden like he has had in foster care. He is suitable for a home with young children, he is very tolerant and a doesn't mind lots of cuddles and being picked up. He'd also suit a home with a cat friendly dog, he really loves dogs and was best friends with the nurse's cavoodle at the clinic. This little guy is one in a million.
Medical notes
Marmalade is missing his left front leg which was amputated after being hit by a car. His left eye is also slightly different in shape as it was injured in the accident. His vision is perfect and it has not been affected any other way than cosmetically.
Adoption details
Please contact the clinic and ask to speak with Rosie, our receptionist and cat adoption officer.
All cats and kittens adopted out from Drummoyne Veterinary Hospital MUST go to either an indoor-only home, or a home with a suitable cat-proof outdoor area or enclosure. Our mission is to make Sydney a better place for cats, their families and our precious wildlife. That means responsible re-homing. We want our cats and kittens to go to the safest, most loving of homes. We don't want them exposed to risks such as getting hit by a car, dog attacks, cruelty from people, injury or death from cat fights or dog attacks, or contracting infectious disease. We want them to live a long, happy and healthy life with their families; safe from harm :)
