About Evie ~ 6yr Heeler ~ On Trial 17/7/20
Introducing our special needs girl Evie. Evie is a 6 year old Blue Heeler who came to us with her sisters Honey and Bebe. All three of these girls are very timid with people they don’t know, however they do connect when given time and space.
Evie is the slightly more confident sister - she shyly wags her tail and wants to say hi but in most cases she just can’t pluck up the courage to do so. She knows her name and with a lot of patience (aided by sweet talking and some high-value tasty treats) she will gingerly approach you for a treat before retreating to a safe distance.
Evie has learnt to trust her foster dad so we know she’s got it in her to trust others. We are looking for a very loving environment with family members who are prepared to put in the work to grow her confidence and become her best friends - extensive experience with fearful dogs is a must. Evie doesn’t get walked currently as leaving the property is far too overwhelming for her and her sisters. Once she’s more confident, she’d benefit from daily walks to trim down her (considerable!) waistline and help her to adjust to the world outside the safety of her yard.
Having Evie and her even more timid sisters together is holding them back as they can feed off each other’s anxiety. Moving Evie into a loving, adoptive family who will focus on growing her confidence will enable her to grow into a happier and more confident dog . This beautiful girl wants so desperately to be loved and at ease in her surroundings.
Evie will suit a quiet home with no children (they would be too overwhelming) and a person or couple who has plenty of experience with timid dogs. She is highly dog social - she requires a home with another friendly dog to assist with her confidence and rehabilitation. Please do not apply for Evie if are in a single dog household as she will not cope as an only dog.
Due to her plumpness she’s not a fence jumper nor is she your typical energetic blue-heeler. She’s low maintenance energy-wise, so doesn’t need a huge yard as long as she has a safe, quiet place to retire to when you have visitors. She may also suit small-acreage which is properly fenced (no cattle fencing) - it might be fun for her to discover that she’s a cattle dog at some stage!
Evie is a very special girl who is looking for her place in the world. If you have another friendly dog and feel that you can offer her a safe and positive furever home then please email us at rescuepooch75@gmail.com . Evie is in foster care near Medowie, NSW (north of Newcastle).
Evie’s adoption fee is $250 and includes her desexing, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worm treatments. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes

If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
