About Rio
*In foster care in Earlwood, Sydney*
A beautiful young Blue, Rio is wonderfully sweet, sometimes timid, SUPER snuggly - and boy, does he love his food!
This charismatic lad lists long walks, ball-chasing at the park, sticks, and human company among his very favourite things in the world. (And don't forget the treats!) Rio is also incredibly smart, learning new tricks every day including sit, shake, lay down and roll :)
Like all Maggie's pets, Rio is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... I'm pretty easy, really - mostly I'll just need a loving, attentive home committed to helping me work off my energy with lots of interactive activity every day. I enjoy being an inside/outside dog, and will need access to a small grassy yard area at least, if not a big backyard (that would be amazing!).
I'll be a great match for older kids - I'm a bit too boisterous for the littlies, I'm afraid! And while I do love a good jostle with other friendly dogs, I think I'd be happiest as your one and only canine companion - unless you've got an easygoing older pup who'll let me do my own thing and won't mind my shenanigans when I feel like playing.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Off the charts! Be prepared for walk battles (I love to lead the way! - though I do settle in and slow down eventually), hours of ball-chasing at the park (if you're up for it!), and ecstatic reactions when you get home in the evening. I adore the quieter times, too - just relaxing and hanging out with you.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Older kids who don't mind me jumping on them sometimes would be awesome, but I might be a bit too much for kids younger than school age.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I'm great at meeting other dogs, but I do feel a bit nervous at the thought of imposing on my new home's dog if they're feeling territorial. A slow and supervised introduction to any resident dogs would be the best approach, I think.
Cats? Not sure yet.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
