About Joy
*FOSTER TO ADOPT*
I found myself at Lort Smith after I became very unwell and my carer could no longer look after me. After a number of tests the vets at Lort Smith discovered that I had what they call a liver shunt and the next thing I knew I was being whisked off for surgery to fix the shunt! My recovery post surgery was a bit of a rough one but the vets and nurses looked after me really well. Once I was well enough to leave the hospital I went into a foster home to complete my recovery and learn how to be a dog.
I hadn’t had a lot of socialisation prior to being surrendered to the Adoption Centre so I had a lot to catch up on.
In foster care I discovered that other dogs are so much fun to play with. I’m hoping that my new family will have another young, small breed dog in the family for me to play with. I will likely be a bit bored without one as playtime and wrestling is one of my favourite pastimes!
I can be a little bit shy when I first meet new people, but I’ve learnt that humans bring a lot of love so it doesn’t take me too long to warm up if you’re gentle with me! I need a home with no young children please.
My new family will need to be one without small animals; cats, birds, rabbits, as the thrill of chasing small fluffy creatures is a bit too exciting for me!
I’ve been picking up some basic manners whilst in foster care but it would be ideal that I attended obedience school as I still have a way to go.
I love getting out on walks and exploring the local parks, I have a lot of energy to burn so will require walks at least once a day and lots of playtime at home. Once I’m tired I will curl up on the couch for cuddles, but until then I’m constantly on the go!
I am looking for a home where I will be fostered with the view to adopt until I can officially be adopted. This is because I am on medication and require further blood tests in the next few weeks (Lort Smith will cover the cost of these). Then I can be officially adopted into your family.
Please give the Adoption Hub a call to make a time to meet me!
