Hi!
My name is Muffin, cheekily named after McDonalds which is where my breeder was handing me out in the car park to strangers. No questions asked, no vet work done. I was at risk of falling into the wrong hands, so someone who knew of Off The Chain rang and asked if they could help, and they said yes! Before I knew it, all my siblings and I were in this nice person's car, and headed to our bright futures.
Since coming into care, I have been nothing but a blast to be around! I live with 3 other dogs, and sleep on the patio with the other dogs on our special couch. I live behind approx 1.5m fencing and show no desire to escape. I absolutely love other dogs, and my ideal home definitely has another dog for company. My current carers work full time hours so I am used to just hanging out at home with the other dogs.
With medium to high energy levels, I LOVE playing with balls, tug o war and squeaky toys. I know how to come, sit, shake and wait for my meals. My first carer when I entered OTC spent a lot of time teaching me new things, eg baths and toys and my manners. Then I quickly outgrew their yard, and because I was in quarantine I couldn't be walked yet so was going a bit insane from being cooped up! So I now live in a slightly bigger yard with different dogs to get to know, and I settled in quickly. By day 3, I was everyone's bestie. From big dogs to tiny ones, I love them all and my training is being continued in my new foster home. Now that I am out of quarantine, I can start going out with my carers which will be a lot of fun.
I am a very compliant, eager to please boy who just wants to make you happy. Sometimes new situations will make me a bit nervous and I will want to hide and hope you won't hurt me.. but it doesn't take long for me to warm up to you and realise you are going to look after me! During big storms, I prefer to be secured in the house or garage, as I do get a fright and will look for you to help me stay calm.
My ideal home will provide enrichment, outings 3+ times a week, has another dog for company, decent fencing and a love for snuggly lap dogs! My parents were a border collie and a stumpy tailed cattle dog. I am estimated to reach 18kg as an adult. So if you think I'm the one for you... please apply to meet me asap!! I can't wait to meet you!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
