About Blossom
Blossom spends her days quietly napping and pondering on cat things. She likes to be in the company of people and when she is in the mood she'll ask for a pat or two but otherwise she likes to be left alone.
Over the years Blossom has decided that she can do without other cats - as long as she has a special human to be there for her, she is more than satisfied. Because of this she will need to go to a home with no other pets. Maybe you will identify with these sentiments and be prepared to give her a place to live and love where she will have all the time in the world to dream about her cat business.
Most of us have some ailment or other as we grow older and Blossom is no exception. She has hyperthyroidism which is a common condition in senior cats. It is treated very easily by rubbing a small amount of cream on the inside of her ear morning and night. Blossom is very co-operative and allows you to apply it with no fuss at all- in fact she seems to enjoy the contact. Her condition is under control and should not be of special concern, just the usual monitoring by a vet.
If you can give Blossom a home to relax in, a home where you will more or less leave her alone except when she asks for more, you will be helping an older cat find peace at last. You will be an experienced cat owner who can spot when Blossom signals she has had enough contact.
If you would like more information please contact us. We all love Blossom at SAFE Haven and know that there is that special person out there for her.
Medical notes
Hyperthyroidism - Blossom has been diagnosed with and is currently being treated for hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism causes an over production of the thyroid hormone which in turn effects the metabolism of the cat and causes weight loss despite an increased appetite, amongst other symptoms. Hyperthyroidism is relatively common in older cats and is easily treated. Blossom has undergone a pharmaceutical regime and the condition is now under control. For ongoing treatment, you may continue this regime, which consists of a medicated cream being applied to the inside of her ears twice daily, indefinitely. This is the most basic treatment and will keep the condition under control, however there are other options which may be more cost effective in the longer term. If you wish to find out more please contact us or your regular veterinarian.
