About Bonnie
Little Bonnie has not had the best of lives so far you see she has spent the majority of her life as a breeding machine in a "puppy mill". Bonnie was adopted when she was about 8 years old from the puppy mill when she could no longer be used for breeding.
She was surrendered to the RSPCA a few months ago and the RSPCA contacted us to see if we could take her into our care to give her some much needed TLC and time.
Bonnie came to us as a scared little lady with human interaction, Bonnie has never shown any aggression towards humans rather avoiding eye contact, hiding and dropping to the ground when approached. With patience from her foster carer and given space and time, Bonnie is now getting more comfortable with each day that passes in her foster home and her carer is now able to approach her for a pat and pick her up for a cuddle and she now also follows her carer everywhere and is becoming more comfortable with human interaction. Baby steps we know but very big steps for little Bonnie.
Her carer believes Bonnie is now ready to begin the search for a special home second-chance home of her own.
Bonnie's carer runs a doggy daycare business and having lots of dogs to follow has really helped Bonnie in gaining some confidence. Ex puppy farm dogs take comfort from other dogs rather than humans as they often have had little to do with humans as they are kept in kennels. She loves to jump in the back of the car to join the pack for their daily walks. Bonnie sleeps in her carer's bedroom and sometimes likes to sleep on her bed.
Bonnie is still learning how to cope in the big wide world and loud noises or sudden movements can still scare Bonnie. Bonnie has learned how to walk on a lead and enjoys her daily outings to the park with her doggy friends and loves to socialise with all other dogs when she is out and about.
Bonnie MUST go to a home with at least one friendly, confident and well-adjusted small canine friend. If you have more than one dog in your home then that would be a bonus for Bonnie. Bonnie is an inside dog with access outside.
She will need a home that can continue her daily walks and outings, and ongoing socialisation but also one that will be mindful not to overwhelm her.
Bonnie would not cope with young children or a busy household.
Above all Bonnie needs a home that will give her the love, understanding, time and the space she needs to become comfortable in her new home environment and not place expectations on her to be a certain way within a certain time. Given time we are sure she will continue to feel more comfortable in her new home.
Bonnie has not had the best first 8 years of her life and is so deserving of a special home.
If you have a special home that you can offer Bonnie please email us with some information on the home you could offer Bonnie including the other dogs in your home
