About Sahara
This adorable little lady is Sahara....she's our 5 year old Blue Sable Frenchie, and an absolute stunner! Sahara is in care with another younger Frenchie female who she gets along great with. She's extremely friendly, super affectionate and loves the companionship of her fellow Frenchies. For this reason, we are hoping to find her a home where she had the company of another older Frenchie.
Sahara loves her chew toys and quite happy to lay around in the sun or on her daybed inside. She's a very chilled girl who has not shown any aggression during her time in care and hardly ever barks. She is crate trained at night and her days are spent hanging out with her Frenchie friend outside.
This beautiful girl has been through quite alot during her time in care....on arrival, she was diagnosed with quite severe ear polyps, which are variations of a tumor or abnormal growth within the ear canal. She had also suffered from chronic ear infections for some time which had already decreased her sense of hearing, so due to the severity of the infections, our vet had advised that a total Ear Canal Ablation on both ears would be the best option to reduce the risk of ongoing infections. This meant that her entire ear canals would be removed (which are part of the external ear). Due to the ear being comprised of inner, middle & external portions and the inner ear being responsible for balance and the connection of sound waves to the brain, Sahara's hearing is probably only slightly worse than prior to surgery.
Following Sahara's surgery, she did have some temporary damage to the facial nerve which can occur during surgery, which then led to a loss of the blink reflex, causing dry eye. Her facial nerve damage has diminished over time but she will need Viscotears (liquid eye lubricating gel) in both eyes day and night, possibly for the rest of her life. We are hopeful that this will be the end to her surgeries and infections but those interested in adopting this gorgeous girl would need to prepared to monitor and clean her ears regularly and learn to read the signs of possible issues relating to her ears. Sahara has amazed us all with how well she's coped and just loves life and her special people in it. She deserves an amazing home and family and although it may not be easy, we know it's out there somewhere!
Due to their 'screw' tails, they are susceptible to a condition known as 'hemivertebra of the spine'. When hemivertebra is present in your dog’s tail, it typically is not an issue. When it is in their spine, it can lead to serious problems. The deformity of the vertebrae will lead to a twisting of the spine which can compress your dog’s spinal cord. Hemivertebra can be minor, where only one or two vertebrae have the deformity and the dog does not experience any clinical signs. In some cases, the dog will experience minor symptoms; in other cases, the condition will significantly impact the dog’s ability to function.
Sahara has been tested for this condition and although she has 1 vertebrae affected, the chances of it becoming an issue is very minor, as long as you take into consideration that the French Bulldog is by no means an athlete or flyball champion! Any activities that involve twisting of the spine are not recommended.
So if you've done your research and decided that this breed is for you, please send us an enquiry. Sahara has now had all her vet work done and ready to meet you. She is located in Berkeley Vale on the Central Coast NSW.

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
