About Piper (Adopted)
In late 2015, just shy of Piper's second birthday, she was taken to a vet to be euthanised. She had raced once, but only placed 6th, so was considered 'surplus to requirements' by her owner.
In a stroke of luck, the vet nurse knew the Kennel Manager of Greyhound Rescue (GR), and couldn't bring herself to put down this beautiful girl. Despite being 4 hours drive from GR's kennels, a volunteer offered to collect Piper and bring her back to the safety of GR. A few weeks later, she was adopted by two of our volunteers, Shelley and Belinda.
Piper now lives the life of luxury, sharing her home with Rocket (whippet brother) Jessi ( greyhound sister) and Oscar, the 'frenemy' cat.
Piper has just celebrated her 6th birthday, with many more to come! Piper is indeed one of the lucky ones.
Adoption details
We will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks. We have dogs that are small dog and cat friendly.
We expect greyhounds to be 'indoor dogs' and not left alone for long periods of time. Ideally they would have a doggy or human friend for company most of the time.
