About Audrey
Meet Audrey, our (almost) six-year old black beauty!
Audrey was adopted through Amazing Greys almost two-years ago and found life as a couch potato very much to her liking. Although her human adores her very much, sadly her circumstances have changed, and she has asked us if we can help find a new home just as perfect for her darling girl. Do you think Audrey could be your pawfect pal?
Audrey likes her life to be a nice blend of playful and calm. She wants to be near you so you can scratch her ears or belly and she hopes any visitors of your will pay their ‘pat’ tax as they walk through the door. Audrey thinks squeaky toys are just the best and in fact, they are so fun, she doesn’t even need her humans to play – she’ll throw and catch all on her own.
If you do have a bit of a backyard this would be a bonus for Audrey but she does like to ‘hide’ her special treats (and not-so-special treats such as denta-stix) so a small kids sandpit might provide a perfect hidey-hole for her. Plus, she’s partial to the odd sunbathe outdoors. Given this, we would prefer to place Audrey in a home with at least a small outdoor space, so no apartments without courtyards please.
Like most greyhounds, Audrey loves a chance to explore her surroundings and a morning and afternoon walk are a must. However, prior to coming to Amazing Greys, Audrey was harassed by the resident whippets in her home and consequently she is not such a fan of other dog breeds. She walks nicely on-leash in general but can be reactive to other dogs and needs some on-going training to learn they are not so scary or interesting. Simple techniques like wearing a muzzle as a precaution, crossing the road or giving her space, avoiding busy ‘dog’ areas and positive reinforcement treats training will help and we can support her new family in helping her learn this.
Overall, Audrey has lovely house-manners. She has her own personal beanbag that she nestles into a comfy shape, she refrains from stealing the human food off the bench, and she is perfectly toilet-trained. She has been alone for FT work hours with no signs of separation anxiety and seems happy to be an only dog. Given Audrey is well-accustomed to pet life, we don’t think she will have much trouble at all settling into her new home.
Audrey could possibly be introduced to a home with existing greyhounds but is not suited to living with other dog breeds or cats.
Please contact us at adopt@amazinggreys.com.au if you think you can offer the lovely Audrey her perfect forever home.
