About Purple (and Pinky)
Is anything more fun than sharing your life with a greyhound? You betcha! How about sharing your life with TWO greyhounds?
Meet Pinky and Purple, our bonded brother and sister pair! These 5-year old hounds are siblings and best buds. They are sweet and affectionate with each other and never seem to grumble over food or beds – no sibling rivalry here!
Both ex-racers, Pinky and Purple spent the first few years of their lives out in the country however have adapted to the sounds and sights of inner-city magically. New experiences don’t seem to phase them, and pint-sized Pinky being the more confident of the two always looks out for her big bro if he’s feeling a tad unsure.
Pinky and Purple adore humans and right know that we exist for pats, ear-scritches, belly-rubs and treats. They’ll make you feel as adored and special as you make them feel, and like to check in to see what you are up to. Morning and afternoon walks are highlights of the day, where they love to saunter along in front of their humans, taking in all the neighbourhood smells. Their other favourite time of day is naptime (so basically, anytime that is not walkies time). Being a petite 25 kg’s Pinky is basically a greyhound lapdog and takes her couch-potato duties seriously. Purple, however, takes laziness to a new level and instead of exerting energy jumping on the couch prefers to sprawl on his own bed or mat.
They are both showing themselves to be clever cookies and have learned to greet new humans politely instead of jumping in excitement, and to wait patiently while their humans come in and out of the front door. They get up when their humans do and don’t mind a bit of a weekend lie-in. When left home alone, they keep each other company and have not shown any signs of anxiety or destructive behavior. They don’t steal food from the counters and are learning that food on human plates is for humans only.
Pinky and Purple have been friendly to other greyhounds they have met on walks however prior to coming to Amazing Greys had not had exposure to other dog breeds and can be very fearful when they see them, they will need a patient home committed to continuing positive reinforcement and taking things slow with any canine introductions.
