About Penny D0086
People are calling me Penny, although this name is new to me. It was changed so I could have a new identify and begin moving forward in life in a positive direction, thus leaving my old life behind. You see, my past is a bit of a mystery, one that I still remain fearful of, so prefer not to share with my BARRC friends.
Here at BARRC, my foster carer understands that I am only just beginning to explore the outside world, she gives me space, doesn’t get annoyed if I toilet indoors and allows me to take my time to get to know her and other people. I wish she could keep me, but she said she has to help other dogs like me and that it is time for me to learn to trust another person like I trust her.
I did spend some time with a lovely couple however, I much prefer the company of my one single female. A mature woman who doesn’t show me sympathy, but shows me strength. I have not had the chance to be a puppy and as I gain confidence, I have little playful moments. I enjoy these moments, they make my foster mum smile. A lot! I am fine around other dogs but think I might quite like a home to myself and my new mum. I can’t tell you right now if I will ever be a cuddler, if I will ever willingly jump up onto your lap for a smooch. Right now I just want to feel safe.
I am 7 months old. I am a Chihuahua x Jack Russel. I do malt. I am learning to explore outside of a crate. I am learning to live, to play to dream big about my future.
