Kado ~ Neapolitan Mastiff (on trial 18/10/19)

Introducing Kado, a beautiful and big 2 year old Neopolitan Mastiff. Kado is a happy natured, large boy with silver grey fur and striking amber eyes that look to you for praise and direction.

Kado has been in care for 6 months due to family circumstances and has had several house moves. He is now looking for a special home; somewhere that’s safe and has lots of room to run around. He will need to go to a home with kind and caring people who understand that it will take a little time to gain his trust. Somebody who is familiar with this breed or large dogs preferably. Due to his size he would not be suitable for a home with young children as could knock them over accidentally.

Kado has fabulous eye contact and is very treat focused so training is rewarding for both you and him, but can get distracted and forgets to listen sometimes, so his future training should cover lots of fun walks, some long-lead recall training and reminders to refocus his attention on you. He loves finding and following smells so some training games involving nose-work (sniffing out treats) would be a great experience for him.

Kado likes to be with you but is also quite happy outside. He does prefer if he can see you but also is content laying around and sleeping while you are at work. He loves getting a large bone which keeps him occupied for days.

Kado, through no fault of his own, needs a new home. He is a dog that makes you proud to own and attracts attention due to his size and good looks!

Kado does not show any aggression towards other dogs, although his size and excitement can be a bit overwhelming at first for some dogs. He is untested around cats. He would be okay in a home with another active dog if they were introduced properly. Kado is very strong on the lead and needs more training in this area - further obedience training would be recommended.

Kado's adoption fee is $250 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.
