ABOUT
Bethany is a stunningly beautiful cat, with the creamy-brown colouring and icy blue eyes that point to Burmese/Tonkinese heritage.
It also has to be said - she is One. Snippy. Princess, and as such will require owners to not simply see her as a decorous addition to their home, but understand they are now servants to a Diva.
Now we’re not sure exactly why this is. Bethany was adopted from Best Friends Felines in late 2019 after having a litter of kittens. She had been a very affectionate cat with her then BFF carer.
Bethany was returned to BFF just before Christmas, and while we tried to investigate, we could not discover why she had appeared to turn into a different cat during her brief adoption trial.
Bethany is mostly unimpressed by humans - she will sleep near or next to her current foster carer, but does not demand cuddles or scratches. She will accept some patting, but anything she doesn’t like could see her launch a snap swipe at your hands. She does not hold back her claws when she does this.
She will become more interested in you if you have food. She is very vocal when she’s hungry or can see meals being prepared. She is especially obsessed with chicken in any and all preparations. She will INSIST on your leftovers.
Bethany came back to BFF very slim, but has chonked up remarkably due to this love of food and her habit of hoovering up any leftovers her fellow foster cats foolishly leave behind.
Bethany has been living with three other cats, and she is not impressed by them at all. They are known to have spats, and while the other three definitely start fights, she will attack first if she feels threatened.
Her current foster carer believes Bethany would be best as a solo cat, or with submissive other cats. She is not recommended for homes with very young children. We do not want her being adopted and returned again; lest whatever happened to her last time worsens.
She really is a beauty, but anyone wishing to meet her must know she is headstrong and will require care, love, plenty of space to feel safe, and lots of time to adjust and get to know you. We promise though - once she looks at you with those aquamarine eyes, it will be worth it.
