About Laika
Hiya, Hiya, Hiya!! My name is Laika & I'm the most excitable pup in the WHOLE WORLD - probably the Universe, right out to space & beyond!
Here's some nerdy space facts for you.... ""Laika"" was a Soviet space dog who became one of the first animals in space, and the first animal to orbit Earth. Woweeeeeeeeeee!! (Imagine me turning in circles here, chasing my tail in excitement). Laika, a stray from the streets of Moscow was selected to go up in the Soviet spacecraft Sputnik2 that was launched into outer space November 1957.
My photographer, after she met me, said it was like someone had given me a RedBull, sprouted wings & I was indeed getting ready to launch into outer space! I am definitely full-of-beans. So much energy packed into this little canine puppy body.
I've beautiful black at white fur which is ever so puppy soft - my black fur has dustings of cinnamon through it. I have black spots in the white fur of my legs & underbelly.
I am very playful & completely unrefined. My human foster Mummy said I had no social skills whatsoever when I came to stay with her a week ago. I am used to living on the streets so this new thing called ""domesticity"" takes a bit of getting used to.
I am, however, lapping up the unconditional love. Like most babies, I understand the word ""No"" but I mostly choose to ignore it! My human foster brother is very good with me & I am slowly learning to sit, wait & stay. Occasionally, I remember, but mostly I play.
It's just play, play, play. Eat, sleep, then more play, play, play. I love to shadow my favourite humans & play attack with all the footballs & tennis balls that are way bigger than me. I carry them around. Tug-of-war is a favourite.
Once I've had my vaccinations, I will be able to go on walks which will burn off some of this puppy energy. For now, I am just UBER excited to love & be loved & am trying to crawl into everyone's laps for attention.
Luckily, I'm very cute, just look into my brown eyes - I just want to please you. Please can I be your next fur baby?
If Laika resonates with you - don't hesitate! ADOPT THIS SPACE CADET TODAY!!
Want to know more about how you teach a pup to be a great dog? I'd like to do training every day so that I learn the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it. And once I've learnt them, I need to keep practicing them every day too. That way I'll learn to obey what you tell me to do. Being consistent and clear with your boundaries will mean I always know the right way to behave. Getting out to exercise at least once a day (and twice for working dog breeds) is vital to stimulate my brain and body. It creates important opportunities for me to meet strangers, other dogs and other animals, plus it tires me out! Tell me ""no"" if I'm chewing something I shouldn't and give me a chew toy instead. I'd love to have a range of chew toys that you can swap around so I don't get bored with them.
