About Skye ~ On Trial 19/1/20
Introducing Skye, an adorable female Kelpie puppy who is approximately 7 months old. Skye is a soft and cuddly mischievous princess who laps up attention. This cheeky monkey has had a rough start in life - but with that life behind her she is now living life to the fullest with lots of puppy play and snuggles with her foster family.
Skye is a curious girl who can be quite distracted in new surroundings and when meeting new people. She’s like a little kid in a candy shop - there are so many sights and smells to take in that she doesn’t know where to start ! She does warm up to new people and will give them licks once you have her attention (which can be hard at times!). She is very confident in her foster carers home but she’s still getting used to the excitement of the world outside.
She loves a daily walk (or two!) and to be included in outdoor adventures with her new family. This should help wear out some of her puppy energy. If you have a good sized yard she’ll love to run around playing with her favourite toys.
Skye has been with a few kids of various ages and she likes them all. She will take part in some rough-play and playing chasies or tug-o-war with a ball. When she’s worn out she’ll enjoy cuddles in your lap - she’s also quite content to be carried around and fussed over.
Skye adores other dogs so she must be adopted into a home with another medium sized dog (or two) - she will not suit a home as a single dog - so please only apply if you have another social, playful dog for her to play with and to help be her role model.
Due to Skye’s background she’s quite behind in her training so her new family will need to commit to puppy training and socialisation classes with her. She has discovered her voice since being rescued and she’s not treat or sound focused when it comes to training (but that may change in the future). Right now her favourite rewards are cuddles and human contact.

Skye's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Skye twisted her leg in early December from over playing (as puppies are want to do). She is still recovering - her limp is most noticeable when she’s been laying down for a while. Skye loves running and chasing the ball so management of this injury includes not running on sloped grounds and keeping her walks shorter.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
