About Ruby
Everyone meet our wonder girl Ruby, she is such a gem! Ruby is every bit as beautiful as the gem she's named after. Rubes has an inspirational story to tell. She has been through a huge medical barrier and has miraculously overcome this hurdle and is now ready for her furever home.
Ruby is a 5 year old Staffy x that has the biggest heart and gentle nature. She has the most human-like smile that shines every time she sees you. She's affectionate, obedient and just loves to be around people and is ready to share her love to anyone that will take it. Ruby girl stole our hearts the moment she entered care and is unlike any other rescue her carer has had. Our beautiful girl is a 1st class booty twerker and her whole body bends like a slinky when she sees her hooman. She has a huge personality that is sure to make you smile. She loves other dogs of all sizes, and mingles well with them. She hasn't been tested with cats or children as we have none in our home, however she is extremely gentle and patient so I believe she would do well in a family home with young children.
The ideal family for Ruby would be someone who likes to go on regular walks and adventures and likes to snuggle of an evening. Due to her medical history, they would also need to be motivated to take on the physiotherapy Ruby still requires. Like all dogs, Ruby needs her daily walk but would smother you in kisses and love you furever if you would regularly take her to the doggo park for her social skills to shine or to the doggie beach to have some fury fun! Rubes is GREAT with other dogs, so socialisation at parks and beaches will keep this young lady gentle, kind and happy. Ruby is well-behaved during the day and either soaks up the sun or has a few plays with her toys outside. She also enjoys her evening downtime inside with her peeps. Ruby forgets how big she is sometimes and would very much like to snuggle on the couch or bed with her hooman. She is very well behaved and is not destructive or a barker.
Ruby came into care with a limp. She would barely walk on her back left leg. After a few x-rays and vet visits, it was diagnosed that she had ruptured her Cranial Cruciate Ligament as well as tearing her meniscus resulting in a collateral rupture. After a huge success in fund-raising within the community, Rubes underwent a complicated surgery known as a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy). She had a long recovery, however has mended well. Prospective owners will need to continue on with Ruby's recovery by providing physio (done by yourself through massage) and daily walks. Ruby is 90% there. She walks mostly on all 4 legs, but sometimes forgets she has healed and will carry her leg on occasions. There is no more pain, however the loss of muscle damage and the habit of her carrying her leg for so long makes it hard for newly recovered Ruby to walk normally 100% of the time. Don't see this as a negative, the purpose and sense of achievement you will feel when Ruby has fully recovered will make all the hard work worth it.
Words cannot express how sweet and amazing this girl is! She is so much more than your typical staffy! She has a heart of gold, a personality that is sure to put a smile on your dile and sweetness that would make the hardest of people melt at her doggie paws. If you think you could make room for a doggo that will change your life for the good, please email to the email provided.
