Hi everyone!!
My name is Percy, short for Perseverance. As that is what it took to save me. See, my owner didn't take very good care of me. When I arrived in care, I was completely emaciated... I was weak and couldn't play much. My rescue, OTC, had blood work done to check for any reason for this, but nope, perfect organ function - just starved. It was a very sad situation, but we don't want to dwell on that. All that matters now, is where I am at, and where I am headed!
I am now almost at my ideal healthy weight. Maybe 2kg to go and I'll be there! I am a happy, energetic and gentle boy who loves the company of other dogs. I currently live behind 5ft fencing and sleep outside with the other dog, on the deck. I haven't yet met cats, so please don't try to make me live with any unless they are adequately contained and you have experience teaching dogs how to be around them. My manners are impeccable and I am so loving and eager to please! I adore going to the dog park, and sit nicely in the car. I like paying tug a war, and chasing balls. I am learning to walk well on lead, and don't bark often at all - usually only if there is someone at the gate.
If you're looking for a gentle giant, I am your guy. I will need to be kept on a good quality, large breed puppy food for another year, and then transition to a good quality large breed adult food. As with all dogs my size, I should not be encouraged to climb stairs, jump into utes etc. It can be too much on our joints. I am currently eating 3 meals a day but will soon be fine on 2 meals a day, like a normal dog.
So what do you think? Could I be the one for you? Please apply to meet me ASAP. I can't wait to join your family!!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
