About Weary ~ Australian Cattle Dog (on trial 12/10/19)
This is Weary! Weary (named after Weary Dunlop) is a 3.5 year old purebred Australian Cattle Dog. He’s a special boy looking for a special home.
Weary has recently retired – at the ripe old age of 3! - as a service dog for his owner. He has been his owner’s eyes and ears, accompanying him everywhere. It was a big role, and now Weary is ready for some well-deserved relaxation time. He is looking for a calm, relaxing home that isn’t too busy. Perhaps with an owner who knows the cattle dog breed.
But don’t get us wrong, he won’t be slacking off just yet! Weary needs to maintain his exercise regime. He loves to chase a ball or go to the beach. He would love a decent yard to run around in.
Weary can take time to warm up to people, being a bit standoffish at first, but this is what he has been trained to do. Once he gets to know you, he will be your loyal companion. Over time we also expect he will relax a lot more.
Having been used to pretty constant company, Weary would like a home where someone is home most of the time, or work part time. He would like to be welcomed into the house when his owners are home.
Weary is best suited to being an only dog. He has been exposed to children but while he is learning to relax we think he would prefer to have the company of adults.
Weary walks well using a harness. He has been exposed to cats but we would always recommend a slow introduction.
