About Bernie ~ Bull Arab puppy ~ Adopted 22/11/19
Meet Bernie, a 6 month old Bull Arab puppy who is big , beautiful and more than a little goofy ! Bernie has quite a laid-back nature but he’s also full of fun which makes for a great mix. If you love the Bull Arab breed then you’re going to love this fellow.
Bernie is a well-mannered pup - he sits nicely for food and will shake for treats. He is very attentive and treat motivated so training time is fun and rewarding for both you and him. Like most pups his attention span is sometimes short but with consistent training (and food bribery) he will refocus on you.
Bernie loves hanging out with and playing with other dogs - he is in foster care with two very large fur-siblings and he adores them. They play tug-o-war with rope toys and he likes to snuggle up with them at night. He even likes to spoon with his big foster bro Cedric . He would suit a home with another big breed canine friend or he may also suit a single-dog family where he receives a lot of attention and entertainment.
Bernie has spent most of his puppy-hood in a boarding kennel - since coming into foster care he has thrived with all the one-on-one attention he’s been receiving . He’s learning to walk on lead (he does pull so an easy-walk style harness will help there). Because walks are so new to him he does get super excited to be out and about but with time and training that should ease.
Bernie loves his humans - when his foster mum works from home he will curl up next to the desk enjoying the company of just being near you. He will have bursts of springing around the yard like a goat playing and then he’ll put himself to bed to recharge his puppy batteries. As far as pups go, he’s pretty easy going (and sometimes even a tad lazy!). He’s toilet trained and quite well behaved inside (just remember to put stuff away as pups will pinch things like socks and remote controls if not watched!)
Bernie has adorable quirks - despite being a big boofa he climbs onto your lap like a mega chihuahua lapdog, he’s also a foot warmer and loves to lay around frog style. He enjoys a back scratch on the lawn and putting his head in your lap to gaze at you (awww). He’s a good guard dog with a big puppy bark - he will let you know when visitors arrive and he will bark at that strange dog in the glass window (his own reflection) .
Bernie would love a grassy yard to play in and maybe even some teenagers to play with. Due to his size we’d suggest no toddlers or young kids as they might get toppled over accidentally or whacked with his big wagging tail.
