About Nugget
Special Home Required.
My heart melted when I first met Nugget and it still melts every time I look at that sweet little face. He is absolutely adorable!
Nugget was found in someone’s front garden and the Ranger was called. Unfortunately during his Pound time, nobody called for Nugget so he came into care with us. He’s smaller than you would expect, weighing around 11 kilos.
Nugget has a deformed front leg (it’s like an “arm”) possibly due to a birth defect or an untreated trauma to the leg. I tend to think it’s the latter as he was so frightened of people when he first arrived, wetting himself and lying perfectly still when approached.
Since being in care, his confidence has gone ahead in leaps and bounds, he’s a real chatterbox, friendly and affectionate and he adores cuddles. The vet nurse was amazed how he’d come out of his shell since she first saw him and then when he went in to be desexed.
He gets around very well, the damaged leg acts as a rudder to stabilise him when he’s walking or running. He gets along head down, bum up without a problem. Nuggy boy doesn’t have the stamina of other dogs though and needs to rest after exercise.
He’s great with other dogs and cats.
He needs a home where he can be both inside and outside, he would love to be in the air conditioning in the summer time!
Nugget would love a home where someone is around most of the time, preferably with another dog. He deserves the very best home that we can find for him.
He’s in care at Moree, NSW. We have daily flights to Sydney and further afield. Dog road transportation is also available, going north one week, south the next.
Medical notes
Nugget has a deformed front leg, possibly from a birth defect or an untreated trauma. Vets have advised that no treatment is necessary, there is no point in subjecting him to amputating the leg as nothing would be gained. The deformed leg actually provides stability for him when he’s walking, running etc.
He is a small Staffy, weighing around 11 kilos and is otherwise perfectly healthy.
