Hi everyone!
My name is Tyrion. My littermates and I were surrendered to OTC so we could have a good life and get all our vetwork done, vs being handed out to strangers online. I have been an absolute gem to care for since! My parents were both mastiff mixes, but I am not expected to be huge as an adult... maybe 35kg? It's hard to say for sure, but neither of my parents got above mid-thigh height on a 170cm adult, and I seem to be smaller than they were.
I am an inside/outside dog, who spends about 50/50 inside/outside and sleeps in the laundry at night with my foster sister and brother. I am very well behaved and learn new commands quickly- I will do anything for food! I tend to inhale my meals, so my carer uses puzzles and slow feeder bowls so I have to work for it. My foster carer owns 2 cats, and I am good with them - but scared of the cows next door (we are working on being calm when they are around). I wish I was half as tough as I think I am hehe. I love to come in for snuggles on the couch and to watch a movie with you, but also know when it's time for us to all go outside and be dogs for a bit!
I get along great with human children, and am improving in the car... I can take some coaxing to get in, but if you just get me in and get going, I settle fast and sit quietly. I am not a jumper, but do need a few days to know you are going to love me- so a good fence is preferred in my new home, otherwise I may try to run from you if you only have a 1m fence! I have always lived with other dogs - my age, older, bigger, smaller, male and female... I get along with all! My ideal home definitely has another dog for company. I love to play tug-a-war. I am not super fond of swimming; maybe I don't know how to yet, maybe I just don't like it? Either way, it's not my thing at the moment but I will happily watch you all have fun from the bank!
I like to chase balls, and can be trusted to be off-leash. While you may of course change my name if you want to - I do come to my current one. At the vet, I am a happy and easy going dog who lets them do what they need to do- as long as you're going to reward me in treats of course! Overall I am a happy, confident boy who will fit easily into any home. I really deserve a forever home of my own. I have watched so many 'pretty' dogs come and go, and really just want to be able to give my love to someone. I know in rescue, that black dogs are hard to rehome- but I really am a good boy who wants to make you happy! Please don't look past me. Meet me and I can almost promise that will be the last time we are ever apart <3
Love, Tyrion aka 'T'
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
