About Fletcher ~ 4 year old Beagle X (On Trial 18/9/19)
This gorgeous Beagle cross (maybe Basset Hound), is a handsome fellow who is 4 years old. He would make a great companion for someone looking for a snuggle bug but someone who still enjoys going for a daily walk as Fletcher loves nothing more than a walk, exploring and of course a sniff. The beach and the water is a favourite with him.
Fletcher has lived with another larger male dog and since in care, three other Beagles, one female and two males. Fletcher loves his new foster sister so a female doggy friend would be ideal. He is a playful boy and if you take him to the beach or park, likes to go up to all the dogs to say ”hello”.
Fletcher may take a little time to settle in his new environment as has been a little stressed since being moved to care. A big change for him! Fletcher has basic training but needs some attention with the reintroduction to toilet training. He tends to mark a little but does use a doggy door and goes outside.
Fletcher loves food so training will be made easy as he will do lots for a treat. Fletcher does have a flaw - he is very protective of his food right down to his food bowls so if you do have another dog they will need to be fed separately and no food treats such as bones can be left around.
He has been getting a little spoilt at his foster home and sleeping in the bed with his foster mum. In time we think he would be happy to sleep on his doggy bed inside but at the moment he is still adjusting to his new environment. Fletcher would make a great companion dog to someone retired as long as he has exposure to other doggy playmates and would also be suitable to a family with kids above 12 years old. He wouldn’t suit someone that works full time as he enjoys his human company.
