About Shelley
We would like to introduce you to Shelley, our newest arrival. She is approx. 2 years old and is a breed containing corgi, terrier as well as some unknown breeds. Your guess is probably as good as ours! Even our vet was puzzled when asked for an opion on her breeding. She weighs a healthy 16 kilos and has a really long body and very, very short legs!!!! Her coat is a golden colour, long and somewhat wirey and will require some regular maintenance (certainly brushing and washing and some clipping).
This girl is one of the sweetest dogs we have had in our rescue group over the past 16 years. She is an absolute delight and just has a kind soul. The fact that she is homeless does not seem to worry her, she loves everyone she comes in contact with - even the vet! For this reason alone, we believe she would make a wonderful "family" addition suiting children over the age of 10-12. She gets on really well with other dogs and it would be nice for her to have another dog for companionship as well. She is very strong on the lead and could pull a light-weight person over if she became over-excited. Shelley is small enough to be an inside dog, with access to outside for toileting and playing etc. She needs a reasonable sized back yard with secure fencing in which to run, and daily exercise would help keep her socialised and fit. SHE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR APARTMENT/TOWNHOUSE LIVING.
Shelley comes microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed and vet-checked and includes Proheart SR12 yearly heartworm treatment all given on 28.08.19.
This beautiful girl has a long life ahead of her (perhaps 13 years or more) and we are looking for the right person willing to commit to her and shower her with love and affection and all things good which she totally deserves.
Applications to adopt Shelley are now being accepted. It should be noted that completing an adoption questionnaire does not guarantee placement of the pet. All applications will be subject to suitability between the pet and the applicant.
Adoption details
The first step is to phone or email Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. for assessment regarding prospective ownership and pet suitability.
Adoption Application forms must be completed.
A property inspection will be carried out on properties in the Port Macquarie area so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you’ve selected. Proof of home ownership will be required. If renting your home, a letter from the owner’s agent confirming that the pet is allowed will be required.
A 2 week trial period commences on the day of adoption. If, for any reason, the dog is returned to Midcoast Dog Rescue within the trial period, the total adoption fee paid will be refunded.
All Midcoast Dog Rescue animals come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated (up to date), vet checked ,wormed, flea and tick treated.
.......................
Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. is trying to expand its foster carer network so that we can help more dogs in need. This is a very rewarding experience and suits a variety of people. Some people, for whatever reason, are unable to make a permanent commitment to a dog, a commitment which can last for up to 15 years. Others use the fostering experience as an interim measure before committing to permanently owning a dog. If you think you could be interested in becoming a foster carer, either on a long-term or a short-term basis, and would like more information please contact Nigel on 6584 4992 or Wendy on 6584 7027.
