About Ranger ~ Kelpie X Terrier (on trial 30/9/19)
Ranger is an 8 month old Kelpie X Terrier with the sweetest face. He has what can best be described as miniature Kelpie face. All the beautiful features of the Kelpie but just a smaller version. He also has the colouring of the kelpie breed with that lovely soft shiny coat. The Terrier features come through in his mini stature and his vitality. He has little legs and a short body that make him the perfect little companion.
Ranger has only been in foster care for a short time but already his sweet personality is obvious. He loves a little snuggle just as much as he loves to show off his energetic side. Ranger loves going for walks and is very well behaved on the lead. He responds to the command to sit even without a treat. I can see a huge opportunity for training Ranger because he loves his food and is very smart and agile.
Ranger has been sleeping outside under cover and is very happy with this arrangement but would not complain if you wanted him to keep you company all night either. He travels well in the car if you want to take him on adventures too.
Ideally, Ranger would like to have another active dog for company. While Ranger has not been socialised much with other dogs, he has settled in very well with his foster brother and sister and loves playing with them both. Ranger loves to play with his foster sister who is a similar size – they rumble for hours and if they are doing it inside and I tell them to take it outside – off they go it’s hilarious. Sometimes to burn off excess energy he will do speed laps around the backyard and then come up and have a little rest.
Ranger would be the perfect family dog because even though I have not seen him with small children he does not jump up on people and can be easily controlled. He would be a great little friend to the children and play with them all day and snuggle in front of the TV at night.
Ranger had his vaccinations done this week and was not interested in the resident cat at the surgery.
