About Marley
Name: Marley
Breed: German Shepherd
Age: 16 months
Sex: Female
Dog Friendly: Yes
Child Friendly: Kids over 12 years
Cat Friendly: Yes
Toilet Trained: Yes
Location: Forest Lake, QLD
Marley is a beautiful girl both inside and out. She is incredibly sweet and deserves a home as lovely as she is. She has a very calm demeanour and not destined to be a guard dog of any kind. She has no aggression at all.
She is not suitable for a home with young children because loud noises frighten her. She also likes to greet you by putting her front paws on your shoulders. She is best suited to a home where her humans are home a lot of the time as she needs the reassurance. She would be fine as an only dog as long as she is not left alone for long hours.
She currently resides with three other big dogs and has only just learnt how to interact with them. When she first arrived she was frightened of her fur friends, but with time and a lot of reassurance she has come to realise they will not hurt her. Marley has previously lived with small dogs. She would be fine with a fur companion, but not one who is overly dominant as she is very submissive. A slow introduction to another dog will be necessary. She lives with two cats and although curious about them, has left them alone.
She walks well on the lead but does pull, so a halti would be beneficial for walking. She needs an adult to walk her for this reason. She loves to play and is awesome at fetch, and part of her game is to hold onto the ball and have you chase her. She has not barked at all, but does the german shepherd ‘talking’ instead.
At only 27 kilograms Marley is not a big girl. She is long and lean. It has taken a couple of weeks for her to use a food bowl but she is fine using one now. She can be a bit fussy on what she will eat, so has been given a combination of raw food and high end dry food. She eats very slowly and likes to graze. If she has a fur friend, then she will need to be supervised with her food so that she actually gets to eat it.
Marley will make a lovely addition to family that is calm and wants to include her in everyday activities. She likes to sleep inside at night next to her foster mum but not on the bed. She is unlike the typical dominant personality that some german shepherds have. However, with a lot of love and care she will be the confident girl she is destined to be.

Adoption details
~ ADOPTION PROCESS ~
STEP 1: An Adoption application MUST be filled out prior to the meet and greet with the animal.
** PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT DO INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS ** We require all animals to have a meet & greet with their new family before they are officially adopted, no exceptions. If you are willing and able to meet the dog in person, we are happy to accomodate the adoption.
STEP 2: If successful, our foster carer will be in touch within 24-48 hours.
STEP 3: A 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place. You must bring your current dog along to the meet and greet if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption. If meeting a cat we do not recommend brining your current dog/cat as this may stress the cat/kitten out.
STEP 4: The animal MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGED (travelling over a 4 hr round trip), we will NOT ACCEPT the animal to be taken on the day if less then 2 days notice is given. If prior arrangement is made, an adoption agreement/s and payment must be made before collection of the animal.
STEP 5: A 10 day trial period commences once the animal has been collected from the foster carer.
STEP 6: The Adoption is the finalised after 14 days and paperwork is sent via email after this period. Please note this can take up to 4 weeks pending on the microchip paperwork.
Sorry we can’t take calls, as our rescue is run entirely by volunteers, but we endeavour to respond to your email within 24 - 48 hours. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
** PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT HOLD ANY ANIMALS SO PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT NOW. **
