About Lucky
*lucky is currently trialling his new home* we’re not sure how little lucky got his name as the poor fella doesn’t seem to have had a lot of luck so far in his short life……. Lucky’s tiny 3. 5kg body was so badly covered with ticks when he arrived at our local pound that one of the local laws officers took him straight to the vets thinking he’d have to be put to sleep before the ticks sucked the life out of lucky but being bush ticks and not the nastier paralysis ticks there was a good chance that with the right care the little guy would see his 3rd birthday. Armed with lotions and potions lucky’s new guardian angel took him back to the pound and commenced his treatment which included capstan, frontline, special baths and picking the dying ticks off one-by-one some of which were as big as thumb tacks! \ throughout the ordeal lucky didn’t complain, he just took it all in his tiny stride and enjoyed the attention and the decent meals he was now receiving as we reckon it’d been awhile since he’d been truly taken care of. It was then decided that sarg would help find lucky a special forever home so it was off to the vets for desexing. It wasn’t until after his operation that the vets noticed he was favouring his back leg and was in a bit of a pain so they suspected he’d been hit by a car or kicked at an earlier stage but on closer inspection and an xray it was discovered that poor lucky has a mild form of hip dysplasia………. So see what we mean by him not being so ‘lucky’ as we’ve always associated this with large breed dogs like labradors and ridgebacks not tiny ones like him. Lucky is now undergoing a course of cartrophen injections which are working wonders – our vets say he’ll most probably need injections twice yearly for the rest of his life to keep the discomfort associated with hip dysplasia under control as well as a healthy diet so he doesn’t carry extra weight. Lucky is a busy little fella so his hips don't slow him down!
lucky is a terrific little dog who despite his unlucky start to life really enjoys human company and would make someone a very loyal companion. He loves rolling over for a tummy rub and going for walks and exploring the world around him. Lucky's not a jumpy or licky little dog and he'd make a great lap dog! lucky comes to his name or to a whistle and at 3. 5kgs he’s a great ‘take anywhere’ size – its hard to tell from photos just how small he is but that’s my hand in his pics/video and i’m only a slight female but he makes my hand look like it belongs on a giant!!!
lucky would benefit from an inside / outside lifestyle where he can finally live up to his name!
if you reckon you can make lucky feel lucky for the rest of his life then please contact sarg now for more information and an application!
please note: lucky's adoption fee is negotiable as its not about the money its about finding the right, loving home for the little lad!
