About Rusty
Meet Rusty.
This little cutie is looking for a home with experienced owners who are willing to offer him the time and patience he will need to settle in to a new environment.
Gorgeous Rusty is a big dog caught in a little dogs's body. He has loads of energy and stamina, which, as a small dog can sometimes cause his to overdo it. He often needs to be reminded by his foster mum to slow down and catch his breath before continuing with his antics.
Rusty came to us from a rural pound. We have no information on his past and are only able to make assumptions from the responses we have seen. There is an anxious side to Rusty that his carer has been working to minimise. He can be a little jumpy and he doesn't seem to like things happening without warning. His reactions to certain things are decreasing as he gains trust in his carer and he will then have to be given time in his new home to gain these trusts again with his new people.
Rusty does not consider himself a little dog and therefore does not like to be treated like one. He does not like to be picked up unless it is for an exciting trip in the car. He is not happy to be carried around and much prefers to have all 4 feet planted safely on the ground. This is also a way for him to feel secure.
In his foster home, Rusty is living with other dogs. He loves their company and they are teaching him that it's ok to let your guard down and relax .
Rusty will only be looking for a home where he will have a young but mature, energetic but calm desexed dog to share his days with. He has enjoyed their com[any and games and seems to be much calmer when he is following in their lead.
Obedience training would also be a huge advantage for him to learn what his special people are asking of him and to help him become the best dog he can be.
Due to Rusty being a little nervous, he will only be suited to a home with older children (13+). He will not be happy in a home with young children/grandchildren.
As previously mentioned, Rusty is a high energy boy so he will need a yard where he has room to run and share his games with his canine pal.
He will also be very pleased to go on daily walks and outings to see the world and be close to his family.
We have not had the opportunity to test Rusty with cats or other small animals so a home where he will only share his space with another dog will be the best option for him.
Please read Rusty's profile carefully before enquiring. If we believe you have the perfect home to offer, we will be happy to discuss things with your further.
Currently in care in Donald but can be met in Ballarat or Bendigo
Adoption details
If you think one of our animals would be a good match for your home please email us and we will be in touch shortly after. We all work fulltime, have families and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
