About Bear
We are pleased to introduce handsome and sociable Bear - a terrific young lad who is bursting with enthusiasm and potential and can't wait to begin his life with his new family.
Bear's foster family describes him as a big sook, who loves cuddles on the couch. In foster care he spends time both inside and outside, but definitely prefers to sleep indoors at night. He's a very intelligent boy who has been busy learning lots of new skills and responding to commands (thanks to his dedicated foster family!!)
At just over 12 months old, Bear is still very much a pup and he needs a dog-savvy family who are committed to building on his training and including him as a big part of their family - and whoever does so will be rewarded with a truly fantastic companion.
Bear is GREAT with cats and rabbits! He has previously lived with other dogs who he got on well with and although he has been the only dog in his foster home, he has had regular play dates with other dogs and is generally very dog social. So he could certainly live in a home with other pets, or one where he will get the chance to socialise regularly to keep up his doggy-skills.
Please note that Bear is NOT suited to living around livestock or horses as he finds them rather entertaining to chase!
Bear is used to living in a home where there is someone home most of the time so it would be preferable if at least one person in his new home either works part time/works from home/stays at home etc. Alternatively, if you have another dog for him to hang out with this should be fine to keep him company.
Bear walks very well on a harness and lead, but can display some reactivity to strangers when he is out and about on the lead. He is also prone to getting very rambunctious and full-on when playing.
Bear is best suited to a home with teenage kids or adults at this stage, as he is just a bit too full-on for little ones and tends to get very hyped-up when they do.
Due to his energy levels, intelligence and need for consistent, rewards-based training we feel that Bear will suit a family who have had dogs before, rather than a first-time dog family.
Bear's new family (if they live in the Perth area) will have at least one FREE in-home training session with a volunteer who has done some work with Bear in his foster home and knows his behaviour.
In case we haven't said it enough, Bear is an amazing dog! He's going to make his new family very very happy and watching him grow and learn will be a wonderful experience.
If you;re looking for a cat, rabbit, dog-social dog with lots of love to give - look no further!!
