About Rusty. Melbourne
Rusty is an exceptionally handsome gentleman, with a gorgeous golden coat, and a tail with stripes like a tiger. Rusty is well-behaved and loving – but with just enough of a streak of mischief to keep you entertained! Perhaps that tail is a sign that there’s a little bit of the wild animal in this cheeky, affectionate boy.
Rusty loves being a pet, and already responds to his name, walks well on lead, and goes outside when he needs to. Cheeky Rusty is taking a little longer to learn that food left on the bench is not for greyhounds, and neither are human beds…or toilet brushes and shampoo bottles, which sometimes end up in odd places! We’re sure Rusty will learn boundaries once he settles in his forever home, but there will no doubt be plenty of laughter and mischief while he figures it out. Rusty likes living indoors, and stays calmly with his canine foster siblings when his humans are out. He’s not a fan of cats, small dogs, or young children (they’re confusing), so would prefer to live with older kids.
Rusty likes a walk and a play with his toys, but his favourite hobby is flopping down for a nap somewhere close to his humans, or rolling upside-down on the floor for a back rub. Rusty is a honey-coloured sweetie with just a dash of spice, who will bring plenty of smiles to his forever family.

Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
The rescue group has removed this pet and it is no longer available for adoption.
