About Spike
Weighing in at a whooping 15kgs, our latest rescue Spike is in desperate need of a lifestyle change. Spike came into our care as his family circumstances had changed and they took no longer take care of him. 😞
Although Spike may very well be cuddly, he is an example of what a Pug should NOT be (or any other dog). We cannot stress enough how important it is to keep your Pug at a healthy weight as an overweight Pug is a very unhealthy and an unhappy Pug. 👨⚕️
Excess weight can cause several issues including joint pain, as well as exacerbating breathing issues making it harder for them to breathe which can possibly lead to death.
Spike is in the process of having to lose 5-6kgs and in just 10 days he has already lost 1kg. His fosters have put him on a strict diet of a measured 1/4 cup morning and night with no treats in between mealtimes which he is already benefiting from.✅
Spike has had all his veterinary work undertaken is ready to find his new family.
About Spike (please read carefully):
▪️ AGE: Four years old
▪️ BREED: Pug cross Cavalier
▪️ LOCATION: Sydney
▪️ KIDS: Gets own well
▪️ CATS: Untested
▪️ ONGOING TREATMENT: Spike will need to be on strict weight loss management to ensure his unnecessary weight comes off so it does not impact on his quality of life. Our NSW/ACT team will assist his new family in his weight loss program and until Spike reaches his ideal weight. ⏲
▪️ IDEAL HOME: This beautiful gentle boy absolutely loves being with kids so will only be re-homed to a family with children that are active. Although Spike gets on well with other four-legged companions he much prefers human companionship, therefore his family will need to be around more often than not.
Some of Spike’s photos do not do him justice as is one of the most beautiful and lovable rescues the NSW/ACT team has had. Spike loves his belly rubs and will lay on his back till someone starts rubbing his belly. 😀
We know there is a loving and dedicated family out there that would be perfect for Spike, so if you believe you are able to provide him with the loving home that he deserves, we would love to hear from you.
You can submit an application via the link below, providing as much information as you can:
