About Spencer
The time has come for Master Spencer to find a family. Please share this special boy and help him find a family đ
Spencer is a very well natured dog, approx 2 years old. He arrived into care last year after arriving at the vet with a broken front leg. We took him in and he underwent surgery for a front limb amputation, sadly after this surgery it was discovered he also had a fractured pelvis.
Ever the fighter Spencer spent many weeks recovering and went on to adapt to being a tripod so well.
Unfortunately due to no fault of his own he was returned to care early this year, it was then that we realised that he was not using his back leg properly and after xrays we discovered his pelvis had re fractured. We had a very difficult decision to make as to whether we put him through a difficult FHO surgery. After a lot of research and speaking with a number of vets who said despite him only having three legs he was a good candidate we decided to take the chance to give this amazing boy a happy and healthy life. It was a tough and long recovery for him but with his never give up attitude and infectious personality he has now mostly recovered and settled into care well. So much so that it is time to find him a new home, even if his carer will be upset to see him leave!
He gets on amazingly well with his chihuahua foster sisters and has interacted well with other dogs of all sizes. He loves being with people, including kids, so joining a family that has plenty of time to spend with him is a must.
Donât let his disability fool you this is the dog that was zipping around on two legs playing with his foster sister within a few weeks of his surgery!
While he enjoys snoozing on the couch and cuddles with his foster mum he also loves to have a play and go for walks out bush with his foster sister.
He certainly doesn't let the fact he is missing a leg and hip joint stop him from getting about, especially up onto his mums bed!
Spencer prefers company and would like a home with another dog or a family able to spend plenty of time with him. While he gets around amazingly well a family that understands his disability and his able to help him continue with his rehab and building back his muscle is important. He is a gentle boy but a little clumsy so a family with slightly older kids would probably be best.
Adoption fee for Spencer is $550 this includes his surgeries and follow up care, up to date vaccinations, microchip, worming, up to date flea and tick treatment and desexing.
