PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE ADOPTION PROFILE INCLUDING ALL ADOPTION CRITERIA
Meet the old sole Statesman in a two-year-old pup's body. Statesman is a relaxed and gentle dog who enjoys the company of his family. Statesman is used to children and enjoys watching them play, Statesman is currently being fostered with three children (5,6 and 10). He really enjoys long cuddles on your lap and a good belly rub (belly scratches are by far his favourite thing) for a big dog he is gentle, loving and super relaxed.
Statesman gets very excited when it's dinner time and can jump up but hey food is exciting especially when it's a big bone! Statesman has been an outside dog at our home and we are not sure what his toilet training skills for indoors are like. He sleeps soundly all night on his bed, we have had no barking or digging issues. Statesman is currently being fostered with another female dog and they get along very well. Statesman does like to steal her food on occasion and needs to be supervised during mealtime otherwise he would try and eat two meals. He is not food aggressive at all, just sneaky.
Statesman loves his walks, he enjoys a good sniff and needs to be coaxed along sometimes, he can pull on the lead but after 10mins he settles into a good pace. After his walk Statesman is happy to sleep by the backdoor or sunbake in the sun for most of the day. We have had off-lead play at the dog park and Statesman will return when called and listens well. We have not tested Statesman off the lead at the dog park around other dogs, he doesn't show aggression towards other dogs while on the lead. We have tried fetch with balls but he is not interested. He will run and chase after our female dog and loves a good walk/run and explore. It's not the weather for swimming so we have not had the chance to see if he likes water play. We have not tested Statesman with cats.
Statesman is a beautiful natured dog who really would be a wonderful addition to any home who has the time to walk and especially the time cuddle and love him because he truly does deserve it. We are a busy family and Statesman has been an easy-going, well-behaved pup to foster. Statesman has come out of his shell while being part of our family and it has been wonderful watching his confidence grow, Statesman can be cautious around places and people he doesn't know.
