On Hold
About Bindi
I AM CURRENTLY ON HOLD AS I MAY HAVE FOUND A HOME.
Hi there. My name is Bindi and I'm looking for my perfect forever family. Could it be you? I'm a senior gal but don't let that put you off - I could teach these young ones a thing or two about manners. I'm extremely well behaved and never bark at all. I think I must be pretty special (I've heard the words 'amazing' and 'miracle' used!!!) because I came to CRQ with so many serious issues but I've bounced right back from them all.
I'm a tough little cookie I guess! I've been told I need to lose some weight because I just LOVE my food- perhaps a bit too much, but boys love curvaceous older women , don't they? Although I sometimes keep to myself a bit, I'm no shrinking violet. I stand my ground. If any of my foster mum's dogs invade my personal space, I give a short sharp yap to put them in their place!
I am a friendly girl and get along with other dogs, cats and small pets. I love lying in the sun and snuffling around the garden. Sometimes I even try to run but this is a bit tiring because my back legs aren't the best.
I am also a clean girl in the house, my foster mum said I am housetrained and will go outside to use the toilet, but if I am left inside for long periods, I will use wee mats also. I need a low set home with no stairs please, its a must for me, so if you have stairs its best you don’t apply unless you will build me a ramp.(Please read my medical notes further down the page.
I'd love you to be home a lot to shower me with the love and affection I so richly deserve! Am I the one for you?
Medical notes
Bindi has Cushings disease and this requires her to have Trilostane medication once daily to manage the symptoms. This needs to be administered at close to the same time each morning. She is currently on 0.65ml a day and it works out to be $1.40 per day (we pay $110 for a 100ml bottle and it lasts almost 4 months). Part of managing Cushings requires regular ACTH Stim tests at the vet, this is a special type of blood test and should be done every 6 months to check if her Trilostane dose is working effectively or needs to be increased slightly.
Bindi would still benefit from a little weight loss, and she also takes a daily joint supplement such as Paws Osteocare to support her legs into the future as she has patella luxation, but it doesn’t affect her mobility enough to require surgery. Her dental work is up to date, and she has had her gall bladder and spleen removed whilst in the care of CRQ. Due to having no gall bladder, it is recommended that she have a few smaller meals a day rather than one or two regular sized meals, as she is able to process smaller portions more effectively.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, and Browns Plains hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant X-rays and medical notes.
