About Bruno ~ German Shepherd (on trial 12/10/19)
Introducing Bruno a 5 year old German Shepherd. Serious name for a serious dog. Bruno came to Dog Rescue nervous and missing his owner and his reaction was to growl and bare his teeth as was very unsure of his new situation. He’s a big boy - weighs in at about 43kg and stands tall.
Since being desexed and settling into his foster home, he is showing more of the real German Shepherd – smart, obedient – and incredibly good looking.
He’s happy chilling in the backyard but would be equally happy hanging inside with you. Loves the ‘front door bell’ role - he has a massive bark.
Bruno will come when called, sit, down, stay and wait for his dinner, stay on a mat inside and go to bed. He’s a clever boy so learning new commands won’t be a problem for him.
Socially, Bruno’s ok with other dogs. He’s keen to get to know our large ginger cat but is smart enough to go softly. He’s still anxious meeting other dogs and people outside the home.
Bruno is much happier with men - he will need to go to a home with a man in the house. His future owners will ideally have experience with intelligent large dogs. Because of his size, he’s not suitable for families with young or small children.
Bruno has recently had some anti-inflammatories for some sore joints. This may just be a winter thing or age related.
