About Barry
Hi, my name is Barry and despite thinking I'm the size of a beagle, my foster mum tells me I'm actually quite big. Who knew!
People see my size and get wow but I'm a big softy who loves nothing more than to cuddle with you on the couch, or sit under the desk while you work, or wait at the bottom of the ladder while you paint. Basically, I just love being near you.
I'm very chilled, happy to play with squeaky toys and sleep the day away until you tell me it's walk time and then I'm the happiest dog on the block. I get really excited when I see another dog out walking, my foster mum has been working hard with me and I now cope much better but I will need ongoing training and daily walking to keep me improving. Reward based training works really well to help keep me focused and I'm learning quickly.
My new family will need to be committed to ongoing training by a recommended trainer.
I sit beautifully, go to my bed, still working on the whole stay thing, and I'm toilet trained. I do love other dogs but I am looking for a home without another canine companion while I work on my training.
Because I love people so much I would prefer you to be home more often than not, and for you to be happy to have me inside. My foster mum says my hugs are the best, so if you are wanting a dog who will love you and make you laugh, I'm the boy for you.
Because I become excited by other dogs I'm looking for a quiet home environment where I wont have to see other dogs every time I go for a walk.
**Application Process** When on the Pet Rescue profile push the "enquire about this pet" button. Follow the prompts to "send enquiry now" and in the message section please place information about the home you can provide. Include current/past pets and their breed, children including ages that live with you or visit, and any other information relevant to training/exercise/energy requirements. The information you provide helps us match the dog you've applied for to the most suitable home. We use this information in lieu of an application form. We do not take applications for dogs over the phone. We aim to reply to all applications within 5 business days. All of our dog meet and greets occur at the adoption center in Campbellfield. The majority of our dogs are in a foster home not at the shelter so you need to apply via the website to meet them. Thank you. www.secondchanceanimalrescue.com.au ...because they all deserve one!
