About Gobi
Gobi is a gorgeous boy looking for a calm household with lots of understanding, patience and love.
He would love to live indoors with his owners but also to have doggy door access to an outdoor space. He would love it if the outside area is big enough to play fetch with the toys and balls that he loves. His favourite thing in the world is squeaky toys and when you get back home in the evenings he loves to toss them in the air and then pounce on them!
Gobi suffers from anxiety and gets scared and over-excited by many things. On walks he often jumps strongly at the end of the lead to get at birds and cats, and he often growls when he sees other dogs, including when they are on the tv! So walks need to be taken with lots of human attention to giving him treats at the right times to distract him from all these scary things and to be on the look out to avoid them.
Gobi has responded well to antianxiety medication and will need to continue to see the wonderful team at Wild Things Veterinary Behaviour Services, who are helping look after Gobi's mental health. He would prefer to live as the only dog in the household and with a family without kids. He would also prefer a quiet household without too many new people stressing him out coming and going. New people are a particular cause for stress and Gobi still needs to learn how to approach new people. He is already making some good progress in this area. He also needs patience and gentle training to get him more used to being patted and having his harness put on. He is very affectionate but at this point he prefers to rub up against you rather than be patted too much by humans.
Gobi has a very sensitive belly and is currently being kept on a very strict diet to avoid him having diarrhoea and going off his food. He has also had a sore throat issue recently which is being monitored by vets.
Gobi is an amazing boy who really loves being part of his trusted household.
If you think you are the special person that can provide that forever home to Gobi and can provide all patience, understanding and love that Gobi needs, please contact us for more information.

We do not take applications for dogs over the phone. We aim to reply to all applications within 5 business days. All of our dog meet and greets occur at the adoption center in Campbellfield. The majority of our dogs are in a foster home not at the shelter so you need to apply via the website to meet them.
