Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Brothers)
Michelangelo was the shyest out of the four brothers, the last one to come out of his shell. 7 days had passed before he would let us touch or approach him. Each day he would demonstrate a little more trust in us. At first, he would just hide in the doggy box, then he would bark at us when we approached him. He began to cautiously eat his food while we were still in the yard, then began coming inside for a few moments at a time. Eventually, he started taking food from our hands and sleeping in the dogs’ bed on the floor, small wins to earn his trust. Our patience and perseverance were all worth it as you can see by the images.
To meet Michelangleo now, is like meeting a normal playful puppy, happy and healthy. He is very cheeky young boy; he is extremely happy to see you and appreciates all the time you offer him. He is a big of a show off and plays boisterously to show how much he cares. He has not yet mastered any commands except for his name and “come here”, although he does instinctively sit when spoken to. He displays wonderful manners and doesn’t display any negative behaviours. Michelangelo enjoys spending time with our two kids’ morning and afternoon, he’s quite gentle for a dog of his size and age. He walks on the lead without much fuss and is tremendously curious of all the smells the world has to offer.
Michelangelo’s foster family consists of a female Maltese X (aged 10), male cat, two children (aged 4 & 9) and two adults. He has shown playful cheeky affection to all of us equally and is happy to sit or follow us around curiously. Michelangelo also likes to give kisses with passion. He has been sleeping outside and is yet to enjoy the pleasures of being an inside dog (we’d prefer this to be his final family’s decision!). He loved his bath and has always greeted our visitors politely. As much as he is playful, he also content with himself and observing people go about their day.
We would recommend school aged children given his current size, and he will need training and structure for him to thrive also to avoid mischievous bored behaviour. He would love a bone and brain stimulating activities to demonstrate his intelligence. He is extremely quiet when he plays alone and gets super excited with company. He is the best kind of canine companion and has come such a long way in a short time, he no doubt has so much more to give.
