About Nakita
This beautiful senior girl has had a very rough time of late and is looking for a compassionate, experienced home that can help her see out her remaining years in comfort.
Nakita is currently in foster care after being abandoned in a backyard. She came to us very underweight, has scarring from fighting with previous dogs she has lived with, and has had a close call with gastric bloat. So much for such a gentle old girl to deal with in what should be her quietest years, and for these reasons she is not available for interstate adoption.
She is amazingly affectionate to strangers for an Akita, but will quickly lose interest in you - unless you have food. Nakita is obsessed with food, understandably considering her very lean condition. Due to her previous history with bloat, she will need a careful feeding and exercise schedule, and not be able to fool you with her puppy dog eyes into letting her inner pig out.
Nakita needs to be an only dog, with no other animals sharing the house. She would love to have someone to share her day with and allow her inside where it’s warm and cosy and there are humans to pat her. These humans need to be experienced with Akitas and have the handling skills to manage a reactive dog on lead, or committed to attending training. Nakita loves to learn and offer up new behaviours (anything for a treat!).
The joys of a senior dog await the special family that Nakita is looking for - could it be you?
