About Mate
Introducing the very gorgeous Mate! With some love, dedication and gentle training he'll be just the perfect companion!
Mate came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender. He has settled well into foster care and is now ready for the next step, a home of his own.
Mate is a friendly dog, who gets along with everyone. He can get excitable when he's comfortable and will jump up, so he will need gentle guidance in this area and would only be suitable in a home with older children for this reason.
He is currently living with a cat and loves to play. He would need gentle introduction to any smaller animals. A home with a dog-savvy cat would be perfect for him. He is friendly towards other dogs and will try to herd them!
Mate walks well on the lead. He's a very clever boy and knows some commands. He should be a breeze to train, and we would strongly recommend taking him to dog classes. We also feel he would be great in agility classes and he loves his ball so would also love to take part in flyball.
Mate is house trained. He is scared of loud, unfamiliar noises so will need reassurance that he's safe. He has been known to chew things when left alone, so will need plenty of stimulation to address these behaviours.
He is a high energy dog who will need at least 2 good walks each day, he loves his chew toys and tennis balls, and is good at travelling in the car. He adores the beach!
The ideal home for Mate will be an active one, maybe where he can go running with his new owner. He would make a great tradie's dog, with him by your side all day. He also needs someone who has time to put into training him and keeping him mentally and physically active. He needs a decent sized yard, maybe with another dog to play with, and needs to be able to sleep inside at night.
Mate has enormous potential in the right home. If you think that home could be yours, please fill in an adoption application and we will be in touch soon.
