Hillary Boots is a stunning lady who needs a very experienced owner. A patience person who believes this lady deserves a second chance.

Hillary is super sensitive to unusual noises and even the sound or smell of another cat, can tip her over the edge. She is affectionate once she gets to know you and feels comfortable in her surrounding, but she is strong willed and will let you know if she doesn’t like something. Once you get to know her you will be able to read her signals and then be able to deal with her moods the following way.
1. Walk away and ignore her. The more you try to calm her down the more annoyed she gets.
2. Leave a radio or TV on, which is what we call “white noise”, this will help drown out any noises that may upset her.
3. Let her come to you. Do not force affection on her. If she decides she would like attention, she will let you know and then be super smoochy and affectionate.
4. Respect her space. She is an independent cat and most days she will be happy just to co exist with you.
5. She does not cope well with change. So if you are considering adopting, you must be prepared for the long haul, if you are possibly moving, or if you think your lifestyle could change in the next couple of years, Hillary will not cope and it would be detrimental to her and undo all of the good work you have done.
6. She is 10 years old and even though she looks fantastic for her age she is showing the usual signs of old age arthritis which could cause her a bit of discomfort on some days, but as long as you provide all the things an elderly girl needs (warm bed and a good diet), Hillary will be content and happy.
7. Feliway diffuser to be set up in the room she will be living in the most.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open between 10am-4pm Mon-Fri and 10am and 3pm Sat-Sun.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
