About Kelai
Kelai is just one big love bug, literally!
Don’t be fooled by her size (40kg); Kelai is just a huge bundle of love and loyalty who is just looking for someone to give that back to her. She loves nothing more than following her humans around (especially to the kitchen!) and to snuggle up on the couch with you in the evening. Her adorably squishy face, huge paws and beautiful, calm nature make her the perfect companion.
Kelai didn't have the best start to life but that shouldn't stop her future. She lacked exposure to life skills but has received that since coming into care with us and she came along in leaps and bounds. She can still be shy and take some time to warm up to new people. To further build Kelai and bring out that amazing personality we need to continue showing her how we are expected to behave in social situations. Life is no big deal if you don't make it one and a confident handler to guide her through the world is all she needs. She will mimic her leader and seek guidance on how you would like her to act.
Kelai doesn’t need much exercise but she does love play and walks. Prior to her coming into care she had no social skills. She has improved in learning dog play styles however she has proven it is just easier to avoid dog situations. She benefits more from play time with humans and a good game of chase with her parents. Lead walks must be in low dog areas and with a confident and strong handler.
Kelai is the whole package when it comes to manners with her humans. She will wait to be invited onto the couch, and you will only need to repeat once that she is not allowed on the bed. She was progressing well with her obedience training, and now is a pro after her intensive training program. She is even taking commands from the kids. She is able to sit, wait patiently for her food, politely take treats and is currently on her way to mastering the ‘drop’ command. She is very motivated by treats and would love to continue her training at her new home so that she can reach perfection. Kelai is toilet trained and will need access to an outdoor area to do her business when you are not home.
Kelai does well by herself and will mostly take long naps whilst you are out and about, however deep down all she wants is to have a family that will shower her with love. Kelai is an inside-outside dog and will need a warm, soft bed inside where she can sleep and watch you go about your day. She would also prefer to stay inside when you are out, so that she can pass the time with a comfortable nap.
We are looking for a family to just continue setting her up to succeed. Your family dynamic and personality is what will make the home work. A home in a quiet area or on acres if just what she needs. A home without other animals and without another dog. A owner who is a confident handler. She is an amazing, lovely, gentle love bug who will show you so much love.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
