About Rufus ~ Rottweiler X Kelpie (on trial 13/7/19)
Meet Rufus! He is an approximately 7month old Rottweiler x Kelpie pup and through no fault of his own he is on the lookout for a loving forever family.
He’s such a sweet soul with the true tornado puppy side … which he will grow out of in time.
Rufus arrived in care with little to no training. So his foster family is working hard with him to teach him the basics.
In 2 weeks Rufus has learned his name, his boundaries, playing with other doggies, ‘Sit’ and ‘wait’. Unfortunately Rufus is not completely toilet trained but he has picked up the right behaviours quickly. With accidents only occurring every other day.
Rufus is slowly understanding house training, recall and excitement etiquette! He also loves running around with bigger kids but still too excitable for very little ones. Whilst car rides initially made him uncomfortable he’s getting more confident each time.
Contacting the email below is the best way to find out how his training progress is going so don’t be shy and get in touch : )
Rufus loves his food. He’s really enthusiastic about it probably because he was recently sprung from the pound. He is loving his treats and regular meal times and shows no food aggression. He’s been fed side by side with his foster brother and foster mum has handled his food, mid feed, also with no aggression.
Rufus has access to both inside and outside. He’s best suited to being inside only when someone is home so he doesn’t use that tornado teeth power in boredom. This can change in time as he matures into a well behaved dog. He currently sleeps in his indoor kennel, inside his own pen, near his foster brother. And sleeps well throughout the night if he’s had plenty of exercise and playtime during the day!
From what we’ve seen Rufus is still trying to understand what walkies are and what all the fuss is about. But he’s more and more excited by then each day and is a very well behaved puppy when out and about!
He favours a stick over a ball fetch game and LOVES his toys!! He’s also learned how to play tug of war with his big foster brother and it definitely tires him out. Play dates have been a highlight so far with him learning the language of others real fast to be an ideal socialite.
Rufus handles being left outside just fine, as long as his foster brother is there, but being completely alone is not something he’s adjusted to yet. So his foster family believe he will thrive in a home with another playmate, or someone who works from home or can take him to work.
Rufus has the most loving nature and is a very curious young man who will absolutely steal your heart. He will grow up to be a model pooch with a loving home who is dedicated to continuing his training and showing him the fun ways he can be puppy while snuggling up to his people at night. If you believe you’re that special person or people then hit apply!
