About Marty
Are you looking for a shadow? Are you looking for a new family member who can also become a hobby and a chance for you to learn new things and meet new people?
Are you looking for eternal love?
Then you're looking for Marty!
Marty is a gorgeous, sweet-natured pup who needs a dedicated family with lots of time to invest in him.
Marty is a pure-bred kelpie with parents who are active working dogs, so he will be an energetic and intelligent dog who requires both physical exercise and mental stimulation, every day. Think long walks, dog park visits and enrichment toys!
Marty hasn't been in foster care for long, but he's picking up things at lightening pace - like how to use the doggy door!
We would love to rehome Marty to a family who are keen to pursue dog sports with him such as agility, tracking, fly-ball or similar - if you're interested but don't know where to start, just ask and we can point you in the right direction!
It's essential that Marty attends puppy training and preferably a level-one training after that. His active mind needs to be kept busy and training is a fantastic way to achieve that, while also building a strong bond between him and his family.
Marty is great with other dogs, however he LOVES to play and can be a bit relentless. An older, friendly and social dog in the home would be great company, but you *might* need to be able to separate them at times in the early days, if Marty gets a bit too much.
He has not been cat tested but is likely to do well with an appropriate introduction to a cat.
Marty will be best in a home with kids over about 6 years of age. He needs to be in a home where there will be someone home most of the time, at least initially. If you're not usually home most of the time, perhaps taking some annual leave is an option ;)
We want only the very best home for Marty! If you think he's the little man you've been looking for, please send us an email (avonvalley@safe.org.au) or apply via the link. Please tell us as much as you can about your home and family, and what kind of life you have on offer for Marty :)
We may take a couple of days to respond, but we will get back to you.
Please note that Marty's adoption fee is $480. He has had his first two vaccinations and is microchipped. His adoption fee also includes his desexing, which must be done at 6 months of age at one of our partner vet clinics.
*He needs one more vaccine in 4 weeks time. This is NOT included in his adoption fee and must be arranged by his new family*.
