About Roo
When you arrive home, I will greet you with my teddy in tow. Need to refill your cuddle meter? Not a problem, I’ll make sure to nudge you when you’re low. This cuddle troll will block your walkway – the secret password you ask? Oh, more cuddles please!
At just 3 years old, I have two modes: bean mode where I will bounce around, until I enter noodle mode, where I will flop and do a very long snooze.
Did I mention that I make an excellent office companion? I am a stress reliever and snack-tester. If you don’t mind, I will snooze on the job.
My foster mama says that I am “a good, lovely and quiet lady”, if that’s not a good reference, I’m not sure what is! I am currently in care with another female greyhound – if you work full-time I would prefer a greyhound companion. Like most greyhounds, I still do require further training and socialisation work.
Prepare the snacks, and get ready to open your arms. This cuddle bug is ready!
Summary:
> Not small dog, or cat friendly
> FT or PT worker
> If companion, greyhound female preferred
> If kids, 8+ years old
Medical notes
Desexed, vaccinated, microchipped (transfer inclusive of adoption fee), flea and worm treated.
Adoption details
Step 1– Message us here or email us at admin@greytgreys.org to express interest in the hound that you are looking at. For more info: please call us on 0447 830 788. If we cannot take your call immediately, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as we can.
Step 2 – You'll receive a reply to your email with an application form. We'll require this form to be returned before proceeding. If you are having technological difficulties, please let us know.
Step 3 – We will contact you regarding a meet and greet (pending the suitability of your application). There may be situations where the hound that you are applying for, is not suitable to your home situation, but we can match-make another better suited hound.
We do not advertise our foster dogs immediately, as we give them time to settle into home life first, so we can better assess their temperament. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family, but they have not been advertised yet.
Step 4 – The meet and greet will be organised so that any other pets in your family are also present. This is usually done in your home, as a home check can be done to ensure that adequate fencing, shelter, etc will be provided to the hound.
The adoption fee of $320 needs to be paid on the day of the meet & greet and prior to the hound is adopted.
Step 5 – You take your new family member home on a 2 week trial. Ongoing support for this trial period and beyond is available.
If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all dogs will have some period of adjustment.
If, after the 2 week trial, you feel that you need to return the dog, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
- Collar, lead & coat
- Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
- A 2.5 kg bag of Lifewise dog food
- Flea & worm treated
- Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
- Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support.
