About Shortie
Meet Shortie,
Shortie is a fun sized pocket rocket! She is ready to find a forever family. Shortie was found in a box as a puppy so we can’t guarantee she is purebred. She is standard dachshund size not mini. If your looking for an incredibly loving and well behaved dog Shortie may be your girl.
She prefers to be an inside dog having lived in an apartment her whole life. She would not be happy as a fulltime outside dog.
Shortie is fully toilet trained. She loves to run so if you have a yard that’s a bonus! She is very active and will need daily walks and lots of playtime to keep her happy. Shortie loves fetch and tug toys!
She is VERY strong on the lead and can be leash reactive to other dogs so please keep this in mind as this is something that will need ongoing training with. Shortie weighs about 10kgs.
She is crate trained and currently sleeps in her crate not making a peep all night but she would be happy to sleep on your bed too!
Shortie loves people of all shapes and sizes and has been really good with kids.
She is absolutely NOT suitable for a home with cats or pocket pets. She is typical dachshund and wants to hunt small animals,
Shortie loves playing with toys and gets along well with Most other dogs however is best as an only dog
Whilst Shortie is dog friendly she does have attitude so needs slow and careful introductions to new dogs.
Shortie travels well in the car and loves an adventure.
She is not good off leash and will bolt given the chance. If Your looking for a dog that is good off leash shortie is not your girl.
This girl loves to snuggle and will happily snuggle on the couch every night with you and sneak in some kisses
Shortie has incredible manners and is extremely well behaved. She is one of the easiest going dogs and listens to commands perfectly. She is very food motivated and loves dinner time. She loves fresh sardines and any fresh meat.
She sits and waits for the yes command to eat.
Shortie is perfectly toilet trained.
Shortie would prefer a home where someone is home more often then not but is ok left on her own with things to do.
Please note we expect miss Shortie to be popular and we will do our best to match her to the most suitable home.
You’ll need to fill in an application before a meet can take place to make sure it’s a suitable meet.
Our rescue is run by volunteers who also have fulltime jobs so please be patient we will get back to you as soon as possible.
