About Pebbles ~ Kelpie X (on trial 3/8/19)
Say hello to Pebbles, an 11 month old, female Kelpie X, who is a very intelligent little pup with lots of energy to keep you busy for hours on end and so would be more suited to an active family that has the time to get her out for regular runs an exercise.
Pebbles has shown great obedience, and can Sit, Lay Down, shake on command. However still requires further training to improve her recall abilities. Nothing a little bit of time, patience and love won’t sort out.
She has been well socialised, regularly taken to dog parks and the beach. She also has two older dogs watching over her whilst I am away at work to keep entertained. Pebbles tends to bark a little when you leave for work, however, she is not a nuisance barker and settles after approximately 1min.
Due to Pebbles' Kelpie nature, she does become very focused when playing and trying to round/herd other dogs. This can make it rather difficult to call her when she’s off playing with other dogs. We are currently trying to teach her to come when called, however this is proving difficult.
She has never had an issue with dogs at the park or beach, however, she has been reported to become so focused when playing, that she can begin to nip as a means of working. We are undergoing training, teaching her this behaviour is not acceptable, and I have had no issues the past month I have been watching over her. However, those that are interested and have kids are encouraged to think carefully before adopting, and if so, young children are not to be left alone with ANY dog at ANY time. A good understanding of the working breeds will be expected of you.
Pebbles has been trained both indoors and outdoors. She is happy to sleep in either environment. She is a medium size dog and I do not expect her to do much more growing at this age. She was previously a single dog, and so is familiar with being home alone, however also plays well with other dogs and a play mate would be more suitable to such a high active dog but not necessary.
For more information or to meet Pebbles, please contact her foster carer Hayden on haydenrbell@hotmail.com or 0474 811 476 Pebbles is in foster care in Newcastle area, NSW and is available for adoption interstate. You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
